Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 14th of May.
Good morning, Vancouver.
A Clark County judge ruled that the petition to recall Camas councilman John Svilarich can proceed after he allegedly brandished a pistol during an August dispute on a Washougal River bridge—where a quarrel began over a tossed cigarette.
Stephen Dabasinskas must now gather 2,521 signatures by mid-November to move the recall toward a special election.
TriMet lost $850 million last year and its riders dropped 40%—forcing the agency to ask Oregon lawmakers for a big tax increase and to seek local funds for new light rail vehicles as part of the Interstate Bridge Replacement project.
The agency warned that without a large bailout it will cut many bus routes by 2027, which makes some residents worry about sharing costs for an out-of-state transit system.
