- ➤ Clark County is accepting applications from local nonprofits and public entities for the 2026 Historical Promotion Grants to support historic preservation and education. Applicants must submit their online applications by 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 1 as the Historic Preservation Commission reviews submissions in the fall and awards grants in December, with funds available in January 2026. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ In July 2023, volunteers drove 17 routes in Clark County to record temperatures—finding downtown Vancouver, Orchards, Fourth Plain and Fruit Valley were more than 10° hotter than green areas in west Camas near the Burnt Bridge Creek Trail. The county’s public health department will use the data to guide tree planting, green roofs and cooling centers—steps meant to protect vulnerable residents. The Oregonian
