  • Les Schwab Tires will open a full-service tire and auto store on July 23 in Brush Prairie that will create new local jobs and offer tire sales, brake work and oil changes—store manager Devin Cabato said the new facility is part of the company’s growing presence in the Vancouver area.  Clark County Today

CULTURE NEWS

  • A new study published in the journal PNAS examined nearly 2 million people and found that Oregon and Washington rank among the states with fewer dark personality traits such as psychopathy, narcissism & sadism. Researchers used an index based on factors like corruption, inequality, poverty and violence to measure these traits across 183 countries.  KOIN

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Scientists at the U.S. Geological Survey recorded hundreds of small earthquakes at Mount Rainier just before 1:30 a.m. Tuesday—the strongest measuring 1.7 and coming from depths between 1.2 and 3.7 miles, marking the largest swarm in over 15 years. Officials said the quakes are linked to hydrothermal fluids moving along faults and are not a sign of an impending eruption.  KOIN

  • Clark County’s Commission on Aging will hold a hybrid meeting on July 16 at 4:30 p.m. in the sixth-floor Training Room of the Public Service Center at 1300 Franklin St. to discuss aging in place services and housing modifications from the Aging Readiness Plan—public participation is available in person and online.  Clark County Today
