- ➤ The Greater Vancouver Chamber is accepting nominations for the 2025 First Citizen Award to honor civic leaders—individuals who have boosted community life in Southwest Washington. Nominations must be submitted by August 14 and the winner will be honored at the Chamber’s Business & Leadership Awards this fall—an event recognizing decades of local service. Clark County Today

- ➤ Vancouver and Clark County councils approved a $2.1M funding deal to support construction of the Bridge Shelter at 5313 N.E. 94th Ave.—the facility is set to open in 2026, offer trauma-informed services, and reserve up to 30% of its beds for eligible Clark County residents from outside Vancouver for the first four years. - ➤ Vancouver city council approved a rental registration program Monday with a 4—3 vote that requires landlords to pay a $30 fee per unit by Feb. 15 each year while exempting short-term rentals, hotels, emergency shelters and nursing homes. The city will open registration in early 2026 to help track its nearly 40,000 renter-occupied units and improve oversight of smaller properties. KOIN
