Vancouver police are investigating a fatal shooting from July 23 when a suspect entered separate residences on NE 22nd Street, fatally shooting a 77-year-old woman while injuring two men (aged 43 and 74) with no known connection to him, and the suspect was later found deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Federal authorities recovered $2.5 million from Vancouver real estate developer Michael James DeFrees for his COVID-19 relief fraud scheme—sold assets include his 2011 Land Rover, 2016 Duckworth boat and other property, recovered more than a year after his February 2024 sentencing.
