GOVERNMENT NEWS

Starting next July, drivers caught speeding in work zones will be fined 125 dollars for a first violation and 248 dollars for later offenses to boost worker safety. Clark County Today
- ➤ Vancouver City Council unanimously approved Proposition 5 on Monday — the measure will raise property taxes by 15 cents per $1,000 of assessed value if passed in the Nov. 4 election and is expected to generate $5.6 million each year for public safety services, including new equipment, vehicles, and hiring up to 13 officers over six years starting in 2026. City officials say the proposal is part of a three-part strategy that follows last November’s heavier plan which voters had rejected. KOIN
