- ➤ Vancouver resident Stephanie Joy Mitchell found a suspected Civil War—era cannonball in her backyard while doing yard work and called the police, which led to an eight-hour investigation by a bomb squad and U.S. Air Force technicians who took it for testing. The discovery raised safety concerns about potential gunpowder inside the explosive and officials are verifying its origin. The Oregonian
- ➤ City of Vancouver officials & community leaders will hold a groundbreaking on Aug. 27 at Waterfront Gateway for a 95-unit affordable housing project that honors Native American culture and supports families earning 50%-60% of the area median income. Colas Development Group & Native American Youth and Family Center will transform a 0.92-acre site into a six-story building with sustainable features, set to be ready by Feb. 2027. Clark County Today
