- ➤ The White House Office of Management and Budget released more than $184 million for AmeriCorps programs in Oregon and Washington after a coalition of state attorneys general challenged planned cuts—supporting volunteer services in schools, senior centers and food banks. KOIN
- ➤ WSDOT rejected the 3-3-3 board plan from the C-TRAN Review Committee for not meeting state law on proportional representation. A 4-3-2 option—giving more seats to Vancouver and Clark County and fewer to smaller cities—is expected to be voted on Sept. 3 before the C-TRAN meeting on Sept. 9. Clark County Today

- ➤ Clark County Public Health lifted the algae advisory at Round Lake on Friday, August 29 + toxin levels remain high at Vancouver Lake, so the danger advisory stays in place. Clark County Today
- ➤ The FDA recalled 26,460 packages of AquaStar cocktail shrimp sold at Walmart because they may have been contaminated with cesium-137—a radioactive substance that can increase cancer risk. No illnesses were reported and customers were advised to return the shrimp for a refund or dispose of it. KOIN
