- ➤ Vancouver City Council approved a $9.38 million contract with Tapani Inc. on Oct. 13 to build a 120-bed Bridge Shelter at 5313 N.E. 94th Ave. (construction begins in November and it will open in fall) to help people move to permanent housing with full support services. Clark County Today
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Thousands of Kaiser nurses and healthcare workers began a five-day strike Tuesday at 7 a.m. at sites in Oregon and Southwest Washington including Vancouver’s Cascade Park Medical Office—nearly 4,000 members had contracts end on Sept. 30 and staff were reassigned to keep operations running while patients are notified about appointment changes. - ➤ Evergreen Habitat for Humanity announced $1.5 million in subsidy funds to help first-time buyers in Clark County with incomes between 30 and 80% of the Area Median Income secure affordable homes. The program offers houses ranging from one to three bedrooms across the county—families of four can qualify with incomes up to $99,300 and must attend an in-person orientation to apply.
